My name is Nichola Collinson and I am 44. I am originally from Stockport in Cheshire but I currently live in Chelmsford, Essex and have done for the last 25 years.
I am very lucky to have met and married my soul mate Peter. I feel very blessed to have had his love, support and guidance every day since meeting him nearly 16 years ago. He has taught me so much and I look forward to getting more grey hairs with him!
I have 2 beautiful daughters Laura and Alex who have kept me ‘entertained’ over the last 24 years. They have grown into beautiful, caring young women and I am incredibly proud of them. I have 2 handsome step sons Tom and Henry who have become ‘mini me’s’ of their wonderful Dad and their achievements have filled us both with pride. The greatest gift has been watching our babies have their babies! I have 3 gorgeous grandsons Jake, Finley and Flynn and they bring life, love and laughter every time I see them.
With all that family life has brought to me I consider myself to be experienced in a myriad of job roles; secretary / mediator / negotiator / financial controller / housekeeper / chef to name but a few! These particular roles have been salaried by love but have led me in good stead in my career in the Hospitality Industry.
I have worked in a variety of different roles within the industry but have for the last 15 years worked as a Wedding and Events Coordinator at a variety of different venues including a Golf Club, Country House Hotel and even a Castle! I have approached every single event with a great sense of pride of being included in such an important event. I am passionate about everything I do and I honestly feel that the key to my success is my ability to communicate, my keen attention to detail, organization and creativity.
Alongside my full time role I also run a successful wedding hire business and over the last 4 years this has gone from strength to strength. This truly is a labour of love and I am very proud to receive such great feedback about my services from lots of lovely couples.
Last year was a tough year for me and our entire family. My Mum suddenly passed away a week before Christmas at the age of 62. Not something that I or any of my family had prepared for. My Dad had retired a few days before and they were busy planning their future together. It was apparent very quickly that I had to not only allow myself to grieve the passing of such a wonderful lady but I had to help my Dad who was in a total state of shock to organise her funeral.
I experienced firsthand the importance of organising a ceremony that was fitting for my Mum. We were all adamant that a Celebration of her life was important and the services of a Celebrant were necessary. I then organised everything whilst keeping my Dad, brother and sister involved. We were very very lucky in our choice of Celebrant as she allowed us to make request s for a beautiful ceremony and she absolutely delivered on the day.
Although this has been an incredibly difficult time for me I can honestly say I have taken great comfort from the fact I was able to use my attributes to give my Mum a send off that she would have loved.
I now feel ready to use my professional and personal experiences to become a Celebrant and I am truly looking forward to this new chapter in my life.
