I believe in celebrating the important stages of our lives. From our births through to our deaths there are so many occasions when families and friends feel the need to gather together and to mark a special moment.
In the past, most people were church goers and the rhythms and ceremonies of their religious group formed the back-
I have become an Independent Civil Celebrant because I understand how vital it is to do this. It is so important to create lasting memories, whether it is a joyful event such as a birth, a betrothal or a wedding or the loss and pain of a funeral. I work together with people so they can look back on that special day and feel that it was perfectly suited to that unique moment of their lives.
I’m in my 50’s and have spent much of my life working within the Antiquarian Book trade. I have a B.A in English from Westfield College, University of London and I know how powerful words can be, so it gives me deep satisfaction when I manage to find the perfect quotation that speaks to us when our own words are hard to find.
I run my own book business but I am also the organiser of a local day centre, or Friendship Club as we prefer to call it. I love the job and it is very satisfying helping people come to terms with changes and bereavements and to find friendship and laughter again. I am also a speaker for the W.I. giving talks on a variety of subjects. I have two wonderful grown up children and am lucky to live with my very supportive partner in the beautiful city of Salisbury.
I have always enjoyed connecting with people and I like to spend all the time needed to learn about people’s lives and individual preferences. When planning an important ceremony it is their wishes and needs that are the creative force. I use my skills and experience to channel these so we create a memorable and unique event together.
