Wedding and Funeral Celebrant in the North West
Hello, I’m Louise and I am your Funeral, Wedding and Family Celebrant in Blackpool, Wyre and The Fylde Coast area. I was born and brought up in Blackpool and now live a stone’s throw away from the promenade in North Shore with my partner Peter and our two golden retriever dogs, who definitely benefit from the handy beach location.
We have two wonderful grown-up sons who are off living their own lives and two cats who treat us like a Bed and Breakfast.
When I’m not working, I enjoy singing and performing with the local choir and drama group where I love the social connection, community spirit and pub time. Family time is also very important to us and we go and visit our eldest in London when we get the chance, along with spending time with the rest of our large extended family, most of whom live locally.
On leaving school I went to drama college and completed a course in theatre studies. Although I didn’t pursue this as a career, I still have a love of the theatre and will go whenever I can.
After a long career working in Adult Social Care, I retired and retrained as a celebrant. Supporting people with care, dignity and compassion has always been at the heart of what I do, and I bring that same person-centred approach to every ceremony I create and lead.
As both a qualified funeral celebrant and family celebrant, I now have the privilege of supporting people through many of life’s most important moments — from heartfelt farewells to joyful celebrations such as weddings, vow renewals and naming ceremonies.
Whether I am helping a family say goodbye to someone they love or helping a couple celebrate their relationship and future together, my aim is always the same: to create ceremonies that feel personal, meaningful and completely true to the people at the centre of them.
After twenty-five years working in Social Services, supporting people through life’s most challenging moments, I learned the importance of listening, empathy and attention to detail — qualities I now bring to every ceremony I lead. I believe every person, couple and family has their own unique story, and it is my privilege to help tell those stories in a way that feels authentic and memorable.
I work closely with families and couples to craft ceremonies that reflect personality, values, relationships and life experiences. Whether it’s a traditional funeral, a contemporary celebration of life, a relaxed wedding ceremony, a vow renewal or a naming ceremony welcoming a new child into the family, I focus on creating ceremonies filled with warmth, connection and sincerity.
I love including personal stories, favourite readings, symbolic elements and meaningful music to make each ceremony unique and memorable. I also understand that planning any important ceremony can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I aim to make the process feel supportive, calm and enjoyable from our first conversation through to the ceremony itself.
I became a celebrant because I want people to have the very best and most sensitive experience possible during life’s important moments. I’ve seen how much comfort, support and understanding can make a difference, whether people are grieving a loss or celebrating a new chapter in life. Becoming a celebrant felt like a natural next step — a way to use my experience to help create ceremonies that truly reflect the people being honoured or celebrated.
I love helping people share memories, stories and little details that capture the essence of a person, relationship or family. It is such a privilege to be part of those moments, creating ceremonies that are heartfelt, personal and filled with warmth.
