Lucy Attwood | Wedding and Funeral Celebrant

I am located in the heart of Staffordshire, on the edge of the beautiful Cannock Chase, serving Cannock, Hednesford, Burntwood, and Lichfield. This has been my home for the past 28 years with my amazing family. Prior to settling here I spent time in Chichester, Berlin, Salisbury and Yorkshire.

Here’s a little bit about me and my background. From a very young age, sport became a passion, having been introduced to gymnastics and hand balancing at the tender age of four years old. At twelve years of age, I began running, and soon became enraptured by its physical and mental health benefits. I also enjoyed swimming, the gym, cycling, walking and roller-blading.

It was my passion for being active that led to me pursuing a career in PE teaching, a career that I loved. However, I retired from teaching to raise my family.

On my return to education, I pursued other educational roles that I enjoyed, but it was one poignant moment in my life that drove me to undertake my training to become a celebrant. On the passing of my mother, we contacted a celebrant to conduct the ceremony. The calm, empathetic and personal approach certainly struck a chord with me.

My love of working with, and meeting people, in combination with my compassion and empathy led to my training to become a Family and Funeral celebrant. I am calm, professional and personable, however, I will put together a ceremony that embraces whatever you require, whether that be formal, informal or amusing.

I am passionate about my new position as a Family and Funeral celebrant, and I feel that it is both an honour, and a privilege to be part of some-ones journey whether that be the start of, or the final journey.

As a funeral celebrant, I will create a bespoke ceremony that is sensitive whilst focusing on the life and times of your loved one. Meeting with family or friends to capture the essence of those who are special to you is central to constructing a truly genuine ceremony. This will be an opportunity to share memories as well as your thoughts around how you would like the ceremony to run. We can discuss the contributions of family members and friends by way of readings and poems so that are fully involved in the final part of the journey.

I will assist in finding appropriate readings or poems, where necessary, that reflect some-one’s character and life story.

If you require a celebrant for your wedding, vow renewal or for a naming ceremony, I will spend time with you either face to face or online so that the perfect day can be created for you, your family and friends. We will spend time talking through life stories and events that capture the essence of your time together to ensure a truly unique experience.
