Paula Palmer | Funeral Celebrant

Hello, I am Paula Palmer, an independent funeral celebrant in Kent, serving families across Kent and the surrounding areas of Rochester.

My home is on the beautiful Hoo Peninsula, together with my husband, our two daughters and a curious, if slightly grumpy, cat. Family has always been at the heart of everything I do and that sense of connection, kindness and care is something I bring to every ceremony.

In addition to my work as a celebrant, I am an Executive Assistant for a local videogames company and I provide admin and event support to a not-for-profit organisation which champions women working in the games industry. I also volunteer as a telephone befriender for a local charity on the Peninsula. These roles have developed my organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure, while also reinforcing the importance of listening, understanding different perspectives and supporting people through significant moments in their lives.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family. We enjoy escaping on weekend breaks and holidays whenever we can and you'll often find us cycling and walking through the beautiful Kent countryside. Music has also been a big part of our lives - weekends often include singing with a local choir and both of my daughters play musical instruments, so there is rarely a quiet moment!

I have a lifelong love of theatre - especially musical theatre - and occasionally perform with local amateur dramatic groups. Whether through music, performance or storytelling, I've always been fascinated by the way words can bring people together, preserve memories and celebrate a life well lived.

Training as a funeral celebrant has allowed me to combine these experiences with a genuine desire to support families at one of life's most difficult times. It is a privilege to help create ceremonies that honour a unique life with warmth, compassion and authenticity.

Saying goodbye to someone you love is never easy, and arranging a funeral can feel overwhelming. My role is to guide you through the process with compassion, sensitivity and reassurance, creating a ceremony that truly reflects the person you are remembering.

I will work with you to create a personalised ceremony that captures your loved one's character, values and the impact they had on those around them. Whether you are looking for a traditional funeral, a contemporary celebration of life or something completely unique, the ceremony will be written especially for you and your family.

Whether you would like to include religious elements, keep the ceremony entirely non-religious, or blend traditions in a way that feels right for you, the focus will always be on creating a respectful and meaningful farewell. From our first conversation through to the day of the funeral, you can expect a calm, caring and professional approach.
