Funeral Celebrant in Ontario, Canada

Hi,  I’m Rebecca, your funeral celebrant in Ontario.

Are you looking for a personal and heartfelt ceremony to honour your loved one?

Do you want it to capture their personality and focus on what is important to you and your family?
That's what I do, and I'm here to help, every step of the way.

You may be wondering what a funeral celebrant is and how I can make a difference in the time that you are setting aside to honour your loved one.

As a funeral celebrant, I write and officiate meaningful and engaging ceremonies that reflect your loved one – their life, their personality, and their beliefs. The ceremony does not have to be traditional or religious – in fact, most families ask me to create something that is not too formal.

I spend time talking with you and learning about your loved one, and other family members and close friends are welcome to contribute. Every word I write reflects your loved one and what is important to you and your family.

The ceremony becomes a very personal, connected, and purposeful time to say goodbye. The gathering can be large or small and intimate. There can be laughter as well as tears. It can be held in a funeral home, at the graveside, in your backyard or at a local winery or hall.

Why is it important to have a funeral or celebration of life?
Funerals help us to process what has happened. They help us with the transition of having our loved one’s physical presence with us, to having their memory live on in our heart and mind.

It is something I experienced for myself after my Grandpa passed away. His celebration of life was officiated in a way that reflected my Grandpa’s unique life as a cowboy and farmer as well as the quiet way he lived out his faith. Although I was still sad that he had passed away, the experience I had at his funeral made me feel like his life had been honoured in just the right way, and I was inspired to begin my journey to help other families who had lost a loved one with the same meaningful and uplifting approach.

Since then, I have walked alongside many families in the Niagara Region and beyond. I have had the privilege of hearing and telling many life stories, from amazing stories of love, adventure, and friendship, as well as tales of overcoming the most difficult of circumstances.

And then there are the quiet, simple life stories that remind us how each one of us has a special and distinct place in our world and how no one else can fill that place exactly like you can.

If you are planning a time to remember your loved one, I would be honoured to tell their story, writing and officiating a special ceremony just for them.

When you partner with me, you will find that I have the experience to guide you every step of the way, the flexibility to include what is important to you and your family, and the dedication to getting every detail just right.

You may be envisioning a ceremony with no religion at all, or something that is spiritual and includes faith-based elements. You may be thinking of a formal event or a more casual and intimate gathering. No matter what you are envisioning, I am here to guide and support you.

Based out of the beautiful Niagara Region in Ontario, Canada, I serve the entire region as well as the surrounding areas of Hamilton and Burlington.

It would truly be an honour and a privilege for me to create a very special ceremony to remember and celebrate your loved one. Don’t hesitate to contact me and find out more - I would love to assist you.
