My name is Katie, I am married to Peter and have 2 grown up children, Adam and Amelia as well as Abby the Cocker Spaniel. Born and brought up in the Greater Manchester area I have stayed true to my northern roots.

I started my working career as a Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages. Conducting Marriage Ceremonies, Civil Partnerships, Civil Funeral Ceremonies, Registering Births and Deaths and assisting with family history searches.

After 13 Years as a Registrar I moved roles to become a Funeral Director, assisting clients at some of the lowest points of their lives. Advising and guiding them through the whole process of arranging a funeral and then finally holding their hands on the day of the funeral.

As a former Funeral Director, I have witnessed first-hand what a great funeral celebrant can bring to the day of the funeral and the comfort this gives to a grieving family. As well as the personal impact a constrained ceremony has on a family’s lasting memories.

My decision to become a funeral and family celebrant was based partly on a better work, homelife balance. But more importantly, to get back to what I love the most. Which is dealing directly with families.

Since becoming a member of UKSOC and qualifying as a Funeral and Family Celebrant I have gained additional skills including interview techniques, script writing and final delivery of the ceremony.

As a member I know that I have ongoing support, training and expertise on my side.

Naming Ceremonies

Welcoming a new member to your family is an important event. You may want to celebrate the new arrival with a bespoke naming ceremony. This could be the birth of a new baby, two families blending together or a long-awaited adoption. Whatever your circumstances we will work together to create a unique ceremony. (You may wish to incorporate a naming element into your wedding ceremony).

Funerals and Memorials

Every life, however, it has been lived, has a story. I feel that I am in a privileged position to be able to tell that story.

As a former Registrar and fully qualified, experienced Funeral Director, I am uniquely placed to support bereaved families and help them pay tribute to their loved ones.

With great empathy and immediate rapport with people, I actively listen to my clients' needs and ensure the celebration of the life being remembered is a unique, personal and comforting tribute, allowing for humour, reflection and memorialisation.

I am able to tailor a ceremony to a client’s needs and capture the essence and the character of the deceased creating a ‘unique tribute for a unique life’.

All my ceremonies include a full printed transcript of the ceremony and an assurance of my personal attention and care.
