Hello, my name is Lisa Brett and I am your funeral celebrant in Kent. I live with my  teenage golden Labrador, Daisy Boo.

Daisy inspired me to become a celebrant because I wanted to work from home and spend more time with her. I'd always worked in communications but was looking for something new to do.

At the same time, I bumped into a former colleague one day and as she talked about her wonderful new career as a celebrant, I knew I'd found the perfect job.

After gaining a diploma with UKSOC the rest, as they say, is history.
I love what I do - meeting new people, writing about their loved ones lives and then bringing the whole process full circle by performing the service.

Listening to bereaved families share stories and memories of their loved ones is such a joy, and it's a real privilege to be allowed into people's lives at such a difficult and vulnerable time.

I have suffered some major bereavements of my own so I have an enormous amount of empathy and compassion for others going through the same experience.

Some of the families that I've looked after through my work have even become my friends which I think speaks volumes about how I feel about what I do and my level of care

.
I've been a celebrant for so long now that many of 'my' families ask me back each time they need the services of a celebrant and I really enjoy reconnecting with them.

Aside from work I love travel and adventure, animals, family history, David Lynch movies and the surrealist artist, Salvador Dali.

I'm also an author. My book, Finding Happiness When It Hurts, is about finding the blessings in adversity by changing the way you think about and react to challenging situations. Like my celebrancy work, my book is helping many people around the world and I think the two really complement each other.

Welcome to Daisy Chain Civil Celebrants.

I chose daisies to represent my business because I feel there's a lot of synergy between this lovely little flower and what I seek to achieve - resilience, broad appeal and flexibililty.
I love to create a really personal service for the person whose life we are honouring and it's also immensely important to their family.

Every person has a book inside them and I'm constantly amazed at what I hear. To be able to tell a loved one's story with genuine respect and feeling is such a joy.

Many people assume that I'm a family member after hearing my services because they are so personal. I also research as I write, and check everything, and this attention to detail really pays off. I only have one chance to get things right so going the extra mile is so worthwhile.

Adding relevant little touches is also a nice way to pay tribute to someone. For instance, if they have a connection to another country I like to incorporate a little of that language into the script. A loved ones life is meaningful to the people they leave behind, I know that from personal experience.

People from out of county who have seen my services sometimes ask me to conduct funerals for their loved one when they suffer a bereavement. I always say "yes." If someone thinks enough of my work to ask me to help them in their time of need, no matter the distance, I will always be flexible.

It goes without saying that I work closely with families, the funeral director and their staff to make sure that a service is the best that it can be and everyone's wants and needs are met. Good communication is important to ensure there are no misunderstandings and nothing is missed.

All requests are considered. All anyone has to do is ask and I'll do my best to help.
