Lesley Brine | Funeral Celebrant

My name is Lesley Brine and I am your Funeral Celebrant in Lincolnshire and surrounding Counties.

I currently live just outside the beautiful, historic City of Lincoln with my adored, thoroughly spoilt dog, and my son.

My background is in Adult and College Education. I was also a Life Skills Tutor working with vulnerable young people, adults and families across the country from a variety of ethnic, ideological, cultural, pagan, other faiths or no faith backgrounds.   I love art, painting, music and writing short stories, in any spare time I have – all fuelled by copious amounts of coffee and the occasional biscuit or two.  I also love nature in all its forms, support many animal & bird charities and paint birds often, particularly as our county is a nature lovers dream.

I was drawn to Funeral Celebrancy when it became possible to bring my long career in Education to a close, and by my personal experiences with the illnesses and ultimate losses of my grandmother, father and mother, and the deaths, including a suicide, of several friends over the years.  I found those experiences to be lonely, harrowing and sometimes bewildering and feel that my empathy enables me to listen, understand, help support and design a service that is completely tailored to your needs, the soundtrack and music of a life, and provides a detailed Celebration of the Life of your loved one, be that an adult, a child, an infant or a stillborn baby.

I feel that my many life experiences, professionalism, empathy and compassionate nature paired with my communication skills, organizational abilities & planning expertise, will allow me to ensure that your Ceremony will be exactly as you want it to be.

As your celebrant I will support you in creating an amazing experience, filled with positive emotions, an uplifting atmosphere and music, as well as acknowledge the sorrow saying goodbye will bring, for you, your loved ones and friends.

As a Celebrant I offer:

• Living Funeral/Wake Ceremonies

In addition to Funerals, Interments and Memorials, I officiate at Living Funeral ceremonies too and can help plan and deliver your Living Funeral, often called a Living Wake Ceremony.

I believe them to be a wonderful way to celebrate and honour a person’s life while they are still alive and fully able to be the centre of the event. Celebrating your life, loves, musical tastes, humour, personality and connecting with loved ones in a venue of your choosing.  A chance to make lasting memories, provide a sense of closure, peace of mind and an opportunity to say goodbye, to have no regrets about not sharing special words and feelings one last time with someone you love.   To be able to help ease the grief felt by both the dying, and of those who will be left behind, to allow a person to create a meaningful farewell that aligns with your own beliefs, values and wishes.

I also love laughter and will ensure that your Celebration of Life will be liberally sprinkled with anecdotes, fond memories, favourite songs, poems and the recollections of laughter shared.

It would be my privilege to work with you, listening, collaborating and planning to create a bespoke ceremony that reflects your, or your loved ones, lives, values, loves, musical and cherished memories. A ceremony that recalls the fun times and the laughter during their unique journey through life, no matter how short or how long the journey has been.
