Hello, my name is Paula and I am a family celebrant who endeavours to make certain you have the tailor made ceremony of your dreams. Becoming a celebrant was one of those wonderful light-bulb moments in which I saw a whole new chapter of my working life unfolding in front of me. My experiences to date have equipped me well for the role; it’s now my job to ensure you feel confident and well prepared for your special event.

My career began as a geography teacher before I moved into the education advisory service working with school governors, parents and home educators. When the children arrived, my husband and I stepped into the unchartered territory of running our own business writing learning resources, which proved challenging and exciting in equal measure.

More recently, I became a part-time assistant head teacher of a small, nurturing primary school. As such, it’s important that I listen carefully and respond sensitively to the needs of the individual, ensuring that an effective support plan is agreed and implemented. These are key, interpersonal and management skills which I am able to transfer to my role as your celebrant.

My three children are now in their twenties and although they live away from home, we get together as often as we can. They are wonderful company; my husband and I love their optimism, humour and energy. Extended family gatherings are always something to look forward to. Friendship is so important to me; I value my friends and the journeys on which I’ve been taken with them. The relationships that I have developed have enriched my life considerably and have given me much to celebrate.

As your celebrant, I am in a position to help you create your bespoke, wedding, commitment, renewal of vows or naming ceremony. With respect to your own values and beliefs, I’d enable you to achieve the meaningful ritual of your dreams by carefully guiding you through the planning stages, writing a highly personalised ceremony and officiating on the day.

I’d aim to make the preparations as enjoyable and stress-free as possible as we work with your ideas to structure the perfect ceremony, memories of which will last a life time. Should you wish, I can offer suggestions for symbolic events to include within your ceremony such as a unity sand ritual, candle lighting or even a fun and stylish cocktail mixing ritual! Handfasting and time capsule rituals could be considered amongst others such as tree planting, which can be especially meaningful if you feel a particular bond with nature.

The most important thing is that you feel the ceremony is unique, reflects your personality and is true to who you are.

As your celebrant, I will ensure your ceremony is centred on you, your love, hopes and commitment, unrestrained by tradition or dogma. Your ceremony will be focused on values of compassion, equality, responsibility and human potential, and not on the tenets of a religion. Positivity will be at the core of and the driving force behind the shaping of your truly special event.
