Hi, I’m Karin Blak, your Family and Wedding Celebrant in Market Harborough. I live with my lovely husband in the beautiful town of Market Harborough, right on the border between Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

We met back in 2010, both bringing children from previous relationships into the mix and we soon became a blended family. In 2015, we tied the knot in a DIY wedding at the Northampton Registry Office. It wasn’t extravagant, but it was full of love, laughter, and memories that our friends and family still talk about today!

Fast forward to now, our four children are all grown up, and 2025 is set to be a big year for us: we’re about to become grandparents! We can’t wait for the cuddles, the peek-a-boo games, and, of course, bedtime stories.

A Bit About Me

Over 20 years ago, after years as an IT trainer, I re-trained as a relationship and family therapist. It’s been an incredible journey, helping people work through challenges and come out stronger on the other side.

More recently I trained as a relationship coach, which means I now get to help couples focus on the good stuff, building deeper connections and making their love even stronger.

I also love to write! Whether it’s fiction, articles about relationships and family life, or whatever random thoughts pop into my head, writing is my happy place.

My book, The Essential Companion to Talking Therapy, has helped many people find the right therapist and get the most out of their sessions.

Why I Became a Celebrant

Becoming a celebrant had been on my mind for years. The idea first sparked at a business networking event when I heard another celebrant talk about their work. It sounded absolutely wonderful: helping people celebrate their biggest life moments in a personal and meaningful way.

 Over the years, I attended weddings, funerals, and other special events, and every time I saw a celebrant in action, I noticed that they had the invisible role of bringing everything together. I knew deep down that this was something I had to do. And honestly, I’m so glad I followed that instinct!

My Approach to Your Ceremony

Because of my background studying relationships, I’ve always been the person people open up to, whether it’s deep conversations at parties or a heartfelt phone call about life’s challenges. That same approach carries through to my work as a celebrant. I take the time to listen to you, explore your ideas, and work with you to craft a ceremony that truly reflects who you are. And don’t worry if you’re stuck for ideas, I’ve got plenty up my sleeve!

Writing is one of my strengths, so together, we’ll create a ceremony that’s beautifully personal and full of meaning. I pay attention to the little details because those are what make a ceremony unforgettable. Whether it’s a wedding, a naming ceremony, or any other special occasion, I want to make sure it’s a moment you’ll treasure forever.

Memories shape us and influence how we connect with the world, so for me, there’s nothing better than creating ceremonies that make a lasting impact. If I can bring a tear to the eye, a laugh to the room, or simply create a space for heartfelt reflection, then I know I’ve done my job well.
