Wedding and Funeral Celebrant in Market Harborough

I am a Wedding and Funeral Celebrant in Market Harborough and I work across the East Midlands, mainly in Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and West Cambridgeshire, helping people to celebrate their life events. As well as weddings and funerals, I officiate at naming ceremonies.

A few years ago, after attending several weddings and funerals led by celebrants, I started to think that I too would enjoy doing that for a living and so gave up a 25-year teaching career to retrain. Some of those ceremonies were amazing, truly life-affirming and uplifting. The very best ones were those that were fully personalised and so I always strive to make my clients' ideas and suggestions shine through. We spend as much time together as needed for me to gather enough information to write their perfect ceremony.

I bring with me to this role empathy, compassion, excellent organisational skills and a great sense of humour, all of which enable me to create bespoke ceremonies that are both moving and unique. One of my favourite parts of the job is working closely with clients to ensure that their event is exactly the way they want it to be. Speaking fluent French means that I can also offer bilingual ceremonies if required.

Life in Market Harborough is never dull and my husband and I can often be found walking in the beautiful countryside that surrounds us, discovering new restaurants or visiting nearby stately homes. I am an avid reader and like nothing better than to curl up in a comfy armchair with a cup of tea and a good book. Football is also a passion of mine: watching, not playing! When I am not working as a Celebrant, I offer Maths and French tuition to secondary school pupils, plus I lead Pilates sessions for friends and family.

Funerals and Memorials

Crafting a beautiful ceremony that tells the story of someone's life is one of the most satisfying elements of this job. At a dark time for a family, a funeral celebrant is able to offer comfort and help them to navigate through what can be a daunting process. Working closely with them to choose songs, poems and readings that are relevant to the person they have lost results in ceremonies that really mean something to those attending. It is also important to remember the happy times, so both tears and smiles should be part of the day. Every ceremony I create is completely bespoke and precisely tailored to what the family requires.

Weddings and the Renewal of Vows

Every couple's dream day is different, so no two of my ceremonies are ever identical. There are many elements that can be incorporated, such as handfasting or unity sand ceremonies, and I explore all of the possibilities with clients in order to create an event that reflects their personality and hopes for the future. Weddings should be fun, yet meaningful, and should last long in the memory of everyone who shares the special day with the couple. Really listening to what clients want is key to success.

Naming Ceremonies

Naming ceremonies happen for many reasons. Whether the event is to welcome a new-born, or an adopted child, or to celebrate a change in a family dynamic, the main goal is to show someone that they are loved and an important part of a new family. My ceremonies are always joyous and uplifting and, where possible, I work closely with the star of the show to create an event that means something to them. As a former teacher, I love spending time with children and know how to coax their ideas out of them in a fun, relaxed manner.
