We all experience significant events in life - some happy, some sad, and it’s important that we are able to mark those events in the most appropriate way. When my parents died, I couldn’t find a way of celebrating their lives without a religious ceremony, which didn’t suit us as a family. Thankfully times have changed and I’ve had the pleasure of attending funerals and weddings which have been carried out by professional celebrants and I saw how much more meaningful and joyous these occasions were. These experiences encouraged me to become a professional celebrant.

I’m Alexis Thompson and following a career in senior management in broadcasting I took a change of direction. After appearing on the BBC’s MasterChef series, I retrained and opened my own cookery school. I enjoy singing and performing and have appeared in a number of amateur productions. I have a passion for words and have written for magazines and been a guest presenter on TV and radio. I’ve been called on to be a ‘Best Man’ on three occasions – a great privilege and enormous fun. I live in the Cotswolds with my partner Dan and our two cats, Derek and Clive.

As a qualified coach I’m able to help bring out the important details in someone’s story. In all my work, organisation, careful planning and attention to detail are key to successful outcomes and are core skills that I use time and again. I am naturally calm, patient and empathetic and this helps me to make others feel relaxed, particularly at difficult or stressful times.

From creating a joyous, uplifting wedding, to commemorating the life of someone who has died, or welcoming a baby or new child to the family, together we will create an event that is truly personal, fitting and inclusive. Your event will be unique and personally crafted to reflect your beliefs and desires, and, most of all, the memories you wish to cherish. Your ceremony should reflect your philosophy of life and allow you to express it in the way you wish. It’s your day, done your way.
